Annapurna Temple, one of the oldest temple in the city is dedicated to the Goddess of nourishment, Devi Annapurna. Built in the Indo-Aryan and Dravidians architectural style, this 9th century magnificent 100 feet high temple resembles the famous Madhura Meenakshi Temple. The most remarkable thing about this temple is that it has no mandaps or pillared halls. The main gate of the temple is decorated with four life-size elephants made of plaster of Paris; the exterior wall is decorated with colorful images from mythological stories and idols of gods and goddesses and the inner sanctum is adorned with the images of Shiva, Kal Bhairav and Hanuman.
